Yalgoo Estate - Yalgoo
- Located in the Murchison region 499km north-east of Perth, Yalgoo is an historic mining town with an endearing old world charm.
- Yalgoo is an Aboriginal name first recorded for Yalgoo Peak by the surveyor John Forrest in 1876. The name is said to mean ‘blood’ or ‘place of blood’, derived from the word ‘Yalguru’. An alternative view is that it is derived from the Yalguru bush which the area abounds and has blood-red sap.
- Yalgoo features well-preserved buildings from the beginning of the last century after gold was discovered in the early 1890s. The Court House is now a museum with plenty of gold rush history as well as displays of old photographs, domestic items and local Aboriginal artefacts. Yalgoo Railway Station, the restored old police station and jail reflect the size and importance of the Yalgoo community during those heady gold rush times.
- To continue the development of a vibrant regional community, purchasers are required to build their home within 36 months from settlement.
